About Professor's Pearls

This site contains literally "all things college" from an insider perspective. I, Paige C. Davis, former lost soul turned college student and presently seasoned college professor am privileged to serve as your highly opinionated guide. I'll share the inside scoop on topics such as college planning, application process, textbooks, financial aid, degree plans, course formats, social relationships, study skills, career planning, etc...

The decision to go to college, or go back to college, is usually made up of equal parts enthusiasm to fear with a dash of uncertainty on top. While it is to be expected that a wide range of emotions will be experienced by the typical college student, there is indeed nothing "typical" about today's college student. Ask ten people to describe an "average college student" and you are sure to receive ten very different responses. A wildly diverse student body is certainly a sign of the times - and for good reason. The only thing common about today's college student is that they are absolutely "uncommon". The modern definition of "college student" can best be described as ANYONE & EVERYONE. This is a good thing.

So, whether you are fresh out of high school or making a mid-life career change, this website is your field guide for all things "college". Perhaps you are first generation college student, or you're a married student with 2+ kids in tow (or not married with kids in tow). Maybe you have already entered the work force full-time, or you just happen to be 117 years old. The details aren't important. What is important, however, is accurate information, sound advice and support.

Professor's Pearl of Wisdom:

"About three things I am absolutely positive. First, you are or will be a college student. Second, there is a part of you - and I don't know how potent that part might be - that thirsts for guidance.  And third, I unconditionally and irrevocably believe in your ability to ROCK your college experience."
